Set in 1982, The Replacement is an intense and entertaining police thriller that weaves its crime story around the shadows of post-Franco Spain and post-WWII Europe. Andrés Exposito is a gifted young police officer hardened by his experience in the worst criminal neighbourhoods of Madrid. When offered, he readily accepts a new posting in a small village by the sea in the hopes of healing his sick daughter and gaining some inner peace. Upon his arrival, he realizes things are anything but peaceful, as he soon he becomes involved in the investigation of the very strange murder of the inspector he has replaced. As he digs deeper, his inquiry will lead him to a group of very wealthy, and quite possibly very dangerous, former Nazis who have relocated from Germany, purchased prime real estate and are now looking to expand their control over the town. Canadian premiere!
